Kirkys Chronicle–Cape York (Fishing Paradise)

It’s been a massive year to date and it comes with no surprise that I’m dominating the fishing scene in Far North QLD. Record Coral Trout, Tuna and Fingermark have been the targeted species and that’s what I’ve caught. In fact I’m already a bit of a celebrity up here and people often ask to come on my boat for a guided tour and to fill their esky utilising my expert knowledge of fishing.

The monster crocs that inhabit the area haven’t caused many problems for my nets but I have plenty of spares including 5, 7 and 8 inch. I find the best time to set them is early morning letting them sit for 4-5 hours.

It comes as no surprise I’m putting an expression of interest for the 2012 ABFT Competition to be held in the Cape. Not only can we choose for a variety of reef and pelagic species we can have a team ABFT photo at the most northern point of Australia [Aynal Point]. I will rent my spare room out to ABFT members at a discounted rate to sweeten the deal for you all.

On a more sour note I have been having a few issues with my freezer here…..it’s filled with bulk fish and can’t fit anymore in. I’m assuming all you blokes have been catching jack shit still so let me know if you want me to send you any.

Let me know your thoughts on next year’s trip. I don’t care where we go just as long as Jemo doesn’t pick. It might also give Terry time to organise a boat and a partner.

Kind regards

CEO & Health and Safety Officer
