Baffle Bash 2009

The 2009 A.B.F.T Baffle Bash was held at Baffle Creek on the 27th-30th November and was pretty much a white-wash with 'Team Square hooks' dominating from day 1!

Beautiful warm breezy days and picture perfect still nights greeted the boys on arrival and proved to work in with the boys giving them an opportunity to gather some bait, swim and endulge in numerous beers throughout the daytime before heading out late each afternoon to have a go at some of the huge fish lucking in the depths of the Baffle and also get pretty drunk while doing it.

One thing missing from this trip was 'Team Cuttin' Schmick' skipper Ryan Jamieson. Jemo had to withdraw from the competition just days before due to other commitments. Jemo still made an impression on the boys though when he turned up for a sleep over on the first night equipped with nothing more than the clothes on his back and a couple of cartons of beer! GOODONYA CHAMP!!! Due to Jemos departure after the first night fellow 'Cuttin' Schmick' partner James Hanson was forced to be a 'boat whore' for the remainder of the trip just jumping in and just having a fish with whoever had room.

'Square Hooks' secured a swag of awards including Overall Winners, Biggest Fish, Quality Fish and Elton John Award, with a nice catch of quality fish including Mangrove Jack, Jewfish and Grunter along with a few kilos of prawns and a couple of 'pan size' Brim.

On Night one they were joined by Jimmy (Mostly to net, unhook and ice the fish), and along with a couple of Mangrove Jack, and a nice size Dewfish, they each managed to have a bit of fun catching a heap of Big, Dirty, Boney, Crappy Tarpon before the night was out. On night two they returned to the same spot pretty much trippeling their catch with more of the same species (mostly caught by Shaun Cronin) plus a big Grunter caught by 'Team Square Hooks' Skipper Trent Kirk.

'Finders Keepers' first year in the competition was a slow but positive one for members Matty Manley and Terry Castelli. Matty claimed the DOG Award (Drunkest on Ground) after just the first night. The big fella polished off almost a carton beer plus an entire bottle of vodka before spewing in his swag and being forced to sleep in the back of his ute. He also landed a nice jack on the last night before storms forced the teams to head in off the water for an early dinner and multiple Beers and UDL's to the relaxing tunes of Taylor Swift and John farnham.
